Mission to Marsh

A Film by Alexander Kornelsen

At a time when climate change is undeniable and human activity is straining the limits of our ecosystem, wetlands offer our generation’s opportunity. But what do we really know about these mysterious ecosystems? And what impact do they have on the well-being of our planet?

Ann-Christin and Alexander Kornelsen, with their non-profit organization "Mission to Marsh," are dedicated to protecting peatlands. For their first film, they traveled to the world's most remote wetlands: from majestic swamp landscapes to lush mangrove forests, they explore the fascinating diversity of these ecosystems and reveal their crucial role in climate protection.

But while experiencing the wonders of wetlands, they also discover the threatening realities. They uncover the devastating effects of land-use change, pollution, and human greed on these fragile ecosystems. Their journey takes them to political decision-makers who have the power to bring about change and to scientists who work tirelessly to protect and restore wetlands.

With breathtaking footage, inspiring stories and shocking revelations, “Mission to Marsh” aims to mobilize people worldwide while simultaneously offering hope for life on Earth.
