Von Woife und dem Glück
Six years after the success of ‘Vom Woife und dem Wald’ (BR, arte 2018), Wolfgang Schreil, the popular Woid Woife, once again presents his home – the Bavarian Forest.
A lot has happened in that time: the Waidler has become a best-selling author with his animal stories and a welcome guest on talk shows across the country. But sometimes it's all a bit too much hype for the burly Bavarian. Because the Woife still prefers to be alone in the forest.
He recharges his batteries with his wife Sabine, who has been by his side for 29 happy years. A new friend also brings him happiness: the famous comedian Bülent Ceylan announces a visit to the Woife.
Woife is an all-round successful and contented person. The only thing missing from his great happiness is a sign of life from his beloved marten girl Lotta – the animal story of his life. In the summer of 2022, an orphaned baby marten ends up in the caring hands of the animal welfare activist. Woife nurses his Lotta back to health at the construction trailer and raises her. Numerous video recordings show the extraordinary friendship between man and animal. But Lotta grows older, more independent, and one day she does not return from a trip to the forest. A year later, the Waidler decides to search for Lotta with the help of a camera trap. If her territory is near the construction trailer, she might appear on a recording. An exciting search begins.
The documentary reportage ‘Vom Woife und dem Glück’ (Of Woife and Happiness) portrays a man who is searching for happiness. In doing so, Woid Woife opens his heart and soul in an endearing way.
