Every February, toads make their way to their spawning grounds. But since their paths are often cut off by roads, not all of them reach their destination. Toad populations are declining dramatically. In the English city of Bath, a group of volunteers has taken action. On cold, dark, and wet February nights, they leave their warm homes to help the amphibians cross the street. Initially, the focus is on nature conservation, but the volunteers soon discover that these nights by the roadside bring something else as well: unexpected experiences and a magic all their own that keeps them coming back time and again.
