Beaches of Europe – Santorini
A Film by Annette Scheurich
Santorini, the southernmost of the Greek Cyclades, has a unique history. 3,600 years ago, a volcano erupted here, creating a huge water-filled crater surrounded by an archipelago – today's Santorini. Its beaches are mostly black, some red or white, and as world-famous as its blue-domed houses or its wine. The film shows how the volcano's activity and deposits continue to shape the island's nature and and all aspects of life to this day.
