Beaches of Europe – Santorin
A Film by Annette Scheurich
Santorini, the southernmost of the Greek Cyclades, has a unique history. 3,600 years ago, a volcano exploded here, creating a huge water-filled crater surrounded by a group of islands – today's Santorini. Its beaches are mostly black, some red or white, and just as world-famous as the blue domes of the houses or the wine. The film shows how the volcano's activity and deposits continue to shape the island's nature and all areas of life to this day.
