The Mont-Saint-Michel monastery, situated on a hill in the mudflats of north-western France, is one of Europe’s top attractions. The bay in which the island lies is also spectacular: with a tidal range of up to 14 metres, it is an extreme habitat for a fascinating array of wildlife. The film also showcases the dramatic coastline of Brittany, where the local wildlife braves strong currents and towering waves. Here, blennies are heroic fathers and snails are true masters of ‘parking’.
